Objectives of AAAN:
Improved coordination
By establishing an effective networking system among the stakeholders
and by developing local partnership having local strategic planning
with common goals, the AIDS epidemic will be approached in a more
coordinated way with combined forces. The Network will serve as
bonding glue between member organizations for a strong joint action
and louder voice.
Capacity building
The Network will support capacity building of Governmental Organizations
(GO's) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's &POs) involved
in HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities. This may include
organizing experience sharing and discussion workshops and training
programs, exchange and exposure visits, production and dissemination
of useful educational tools and guidebooks, etc.
Experience sharing and learning
Through facilitating experience and information sharing among
network members by supplying joint meetings, relevant up-to-date
information (amongst others a newsletter) and a central databank
the Network will create an environment of increased information
sharing and learning.
Advocacy
The network will be a reflection platform and will facilitate
and coordinate the identification and pursuing of community based
and policy advocacy and action issues of mutual concern to members
such as rights issues for PLWHA, orphans' sexual exploitation, access
to ARV drugs, violence against women and HIV/AIDS, etc.
Mainstreaming
The Network will encourage private sectors and other organizations
to incorporate HIV/AIDS components in their program, as well as
to establish a support system to strengthen community involvement
in the HIV/AIDS control effort.
