Income Generating Activities (IGA)

The introduction of IGA as an intervention measure aimed at supporting PLWHA empower themselves economically and secure social stability amidst the many challenges they face was a welcome idea across the development and humanitarian endeavors. As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, AAHAPCO took up the idea with concerted efforts by taking a leadership role in guiding the exercise. Under the umbrella IGA initiative, all the 10 sub cities have been involved and a total number of 20 organizations acting as implementing partners have been selected from Addis Ababa. The total direct beneficiaries of the 2007/8 global fund supported IGA is 1.338 across Addis Ababa.

AAHAPCO has since remained a key player in the entire exercise with the responsibility of supporting all organizations (government & non-governmental) through the provision of technical support, funding, project appraisal and monitoring & evaluation. AAHAPCO remains committed to this goal and aims at supporting PLWHA and orphan associations in the area of setting up IGA, marketing & market research.
