CDC     WFP     UNICEF    EMSAP     Global Fund

The World Food Program is implemented in six sub cities of Addis Ababa these days and will be expanded within short notice. The main area the program is targeting on is Care and Support. Main objectives of this program are:

  • To strengthen home based care systems for HIV/AIDS infected and affected households
  • To stabilize the school attendance of HIV/AIDS orphans
  • To provide food and nutritional assistance for HIV/AIDS infected and affected people insecure of sufficient food (like orphans, pregnant mothers and their children under two years attending PMTCT programs and people living with HIV/AIDS)

The beneficiaries of this project are:

  • Pregnant and lactating mothers
    • Attending Prevention Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) program
    • Household income <200 Birr
  • Chronically ill people
    • Bed ridden for more than 1 month
    • Household income <200 Birr
    • Priority for female headed households
  • AIDS orphans
    • HIV/AIDS and double orphans
    • Age <=15 years
    • Priority for girls
  • Home based care givers
    • Educational status at least 6th grade
    • Unemployed
    • Member of food insecure household
Priority is given to:
    • Family members of patients
    • Women and PLWHA
